This portrait of my father by the artist Adrian Ramos was presented to him at the Thunderers’ New Year’s Lunch at the Reform Club in 1978.
The Thunderers are clubmen who enjoy good food, a little wine and stimulating company and who meet on a regular basis in different venues, mainly in London but now in Toronto as well. In this portrait of my father there is a sense of quietness and composure, a reflection of a man who is both thoughtful and pensive, dwelling on the many responsibilities and challenges of being the Commissioner of the Metropolis.
